If you’re a “New York hedge fund” in the manufactured housing space, people will naturally look askance at your involvement. You would think then that the hedge funds would tread carefully. Apparently, not everyone got the memo. Three separate news pieces addressing Homes of America and one detailing Lasso Capital’s malfeasance came out this week (links here, here, here and here). Meanwhile, I know for a fact that some legitimate private equity operators (Inspire Communities) make it a point to stay out of the news.

UMH Properties, Inc. Reports Results For The Fourth Quarter And Year Ended December 31, 2022

UMH Properties, Inc. (NYSE:UMH) (TASE:UMH) reported Total Income of $195.8 million for the year ended December 31, 2022 as compared to $186.1 million for the year ended December 31, 2021, representing an increase of 5%. Total Income for the quarter ended December 31, 2022 was $48.7 million as compared to $46.0 million for the quarter ended December 31, 2021, representing an increase of 6%. Net Income (Loss) Attributable to Common Shareholders amounted to a loss of $36.3 million or $0.67 per diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2022 as compared to income of $21.2 million or $0.45 per diluted share for the year ended December 31, 2021. Net Income Attributable to Common Shareholders amounted to $283,000 or $0.005 per diluted share for the quarter ended December 31, 2022 as compared to $9.4 million or $0.17 per diluted share for the quarter ended December 31, 2021.

Attorney General Opens Inquiry Into Beechwood Park

Attorney General William Tong has sent a letter to Sun Communities, Inc. management, opening an inquiry into longstanding property management concerns at Beechwood Community mobile manufactured home park on Route 81, according to a release issued by his office. The manufactured home park has been the epicenter of complaints by residents who claim a steady rise in rentals fees and the reduction of services has placed many residents on fixed incomes in a position where they may not be able to afford to stay in their homes.
